Founded in 1990 as a branch of Egyptian medical association it is an independent nonprofit organization and does not issue licenses.

The internist receives necessary medical education and adequate clinical training for prophylaxis, diagnosis and treatment of diseases that affect adults and adolescents after infancy and childhood before and without surgical interference.

Internal medicine include cardiovascular, critical care, clinical immunology; endocrinology, diabetes, metabolism, gastroentrology, geriatric medicine, hematology, medical oncology, nephrology pulmonary disease, neurology, rheumatology and sports medicine.

The members of the society achieve a diploma, master degree, or doctorate in internal medicine or one of its branches.

The society transfer, propagate medical knowledge through an annual congresses, seminars, conferences and establishing working groups in diabetes, cardiovascular medicine, hypertension, clinical immunology, rheumatology; applied genetics.

The society issue a quarterly journal in internal medicine that discusses recent research work and advanced medical subjects.

Beside These activities the Internet services help the members to communicate with relevant centers everywhere.
